Rooted in place
Amanda Cardinale Landscape Design is an Auckland-based practice creating residential gardens across Aotearoa, New Zealand from intimate family gardens to expansive native landscapes. Every garden begins with the story of its site and its people to inform inform choices of planting, materials, and form. Designed with resilience in mind, each garden is rooted in what came before it and created to be lived in for years after.

AMANDA CARDINALE
Level 5 Diploma in Landscape Design, Unitec
After a 20-year career in creative and digital agencies across New Zealand, Europe, and the US, I followed a life-long love of horticulture into formal training in landscape design. I work from Devonport, but travel across the mōtu for projects. always starting with the story of the site and the people who live in it.
My active projects include a perennial garden master plan for an herbalist's home, a modern productive container garden, and a large-scale native garden on Shoal Bay. While the medium of landscape design is new to me, the creative practice isn't. I'm currently taking on a small number of new clients alongside my studies for landscape design, project management, horticulture advice, and installation.
My work is shaped by an eye for art and design, using plants to create a space that feels like it was always meant to be there.
